Puyi was the last emperor of China. In name, he held supreme power; in truth, he never did. Surrounded by those with far greater authority, he sat on the dragon throne yet controlled nothing, like a prisoner on display. He possessed the highest title but no freedom. 

I wanted to express opulent oppression. The image overflows with ornaments and imperial symbols that frame and constrain him, layer by layer. These patterns function as exquisite shackles rather than glory. Amid all this splendor, the viewer feels his entrapment: he possesses everything yet is held by everything, fixed at the center, unable to move.
